Is activ mobs free?
Yup. All you're paying for is your local SMS charges for the one message you send to your mob. No more.
What can I use activ mobs for?
Lots of things... for example:
You can plan a trip to the movies with your friends
You can inform your colleagues about an important meeting
You can chat with your classmates during that boring class
The list is endless ;-)
What's activ's number again?
The number is 9844622848. You can remember it easily because 22848 is the same as ACTIV on
your keypad. We have recently added three new numbers, 99640361123/4/5 to increase our capacity so you may start receiving messages from one of these numbers. You can send messages to any of them though, since they're all part of the same system.
What's a mob?
A mob is a group of people - friends, family, team members, whatever - who use Activ to keep in touch using SMS. Any message that a member of a mob sends to the mob is forwarded to all the other members of the mob.
How do I create a mob?
If you aren't part of a mob already, you'll need to SMS to
9844622848 first.
Once you've done this or if you're already part of a mob, SMS to
9844622848. Keep the name of your mob short (two or three characters is ideal) - something easily typed on your phone. Activ will also give you instructions at every stage, so don't worry about it.
How do I add my friends to my mob?
Let's say your mob is called ; SMS to 9844622848. Replace john and rahul and their numbers with the names of your friends. Add as many name-number pairs as you wish while keeping the length of the message under 150 characters. If you have more, just send multimple messages.
How do I leave a mob?
SMS to 9844622848.
If I'm busy and don't want to be disturbed, what can I do?
SMS to 9844622848 and you won't recieve any messages from your mobs for three hours. If you're free before the three hours are up, SMS and you're back in the loop.

Do I have to type my SMS all in caps or all in small letter or something?
Nope. Mobs works with AnY kINd oF TeXT :-)
Can I add my friends who live outside Karnataka to my mob?
Activ Mobs is currently available only in Karnataka. We're sorry about this, but STD messages are expensive!
Is there a website I can use to add friends to my mob and do other stuff?
Not yet. We're working like crazy on it and hope to have it up as soon as possible for you to use.
Why are you doing this?
Because we're a bunch of nerds who can't decide on which movie show to
go for. The guy who does the organizing got frustrated and wrote software to allow us to
group-message. We like it; we hope you'll like it too!
